School History

Located at Rurukshetra Rural Municipality in the boarder of Bamgha and Baletaksar, Janabodh Secondary School is one of the reputed community schools in the eastern region of Gulmi district. Observing the historical background of this institution, it is found to have been established and functioned under the name of Nepal Rashtriya Primary School Gyawa Wahadi in 2022 BS. This school had also received provisional approval from the district education office, Gulmi for its operation. Later in 2029 BS, Mr. Hari Prasad Gyawali, who played a prominent role in the establishment of this school, named it Janabodh Middle School. Since then it started offering classes up to lower secondary level/ basic level. It was in 2031 BS when permanent approval for operating this school was finally received. At the time when the wave of education was flowing everywhere, the need for the establishment of secondary school in this place was also noticed. Thus, after many efforts finally in 2045 BS,  the idea of establishing Secondary School turned into reality. On initiation of Lila Puri, Devnarayan Gyawali, Chakrapani Gautam, Ishwori Prasad Gyawali, Yadunath Gyawali, Ganesh Prasad Gyawali, Maniklal Kakshapati, Ishwori Prasad Gyawali(Damlachaur), Kulachandra Gyawali  along with many other local educationists, social workers and assistance from residents of Bamgha and Baletaksar, the decision to shift School to Ranibas and to promote it to secondary level was  hence made possible. As per the decision, the school started to run classes upto 10.

Similarly from 2047 BS, it started offering 10 plus 2 classes in affiliation with Higher Secondary Education Board. Today it runs educational programmes from nursery to grade 12. The primary level which was run only at Rurukshetra 5  Wahadi, is now also run at Ranibas from this academic year 2077 BS after it merged with Balachaur Primary School.

Though the school started its journey of 10 plus 2 programme through stream of humanities, today it offers classes under the stream of Management and education as well. From academic year 2074 BS, it has also started teaching technical education (plant science) from grade 9 to 12 in affiliation with the government of Nepal, Ministry of Education Science and Technology. Likewise in affiliation with Rurukshetra Rural Municipality, the school is all set to run classes of general science from grade 11 from this academic year, 2077 BS.

 Altogether 46 teaching and non teaching staff are employed whereas 596 students study in this institution. This school is a renowned educational institution in Eastern region of Gulmi district at present after its selection as a Model School according to the norms of government of Nepal. It has already developed a five year master plan to build itself as a model school. In fact, from this academic year it started implementing its plan for the first year into action. This school has aimed to accomplish implementing model school’s master plan within five years and thus transform itself as a model school in real sense.
